Saithe

Saithe are stocky gadiformes found in rocky and sandy habitats of the North Atlantic, typically at 20–200 metres. They resemble their cousins the cod and haddock, with three dorsal fins, olive-brown to dark-green flanks, and a pale lateral line. Unlike cod, saithe lack a chin barbel. Juveniles often congregate in loose schools near the seabed, while adults hunt small fish and crustaceans. They are slow-growing and long-lived, and are commercially fished throughout their range.
