The spotted eagle ray is a distinctive ray with a long, pointed snout, dark upper surface dotted with pale spots, and bright white underside. Found in warm coastal waters worldwide, usually at depths between 5 and 80 metres, it cruises gracefully using wing-like pectoral fins. These rays hunt molluscs and crustaceans on sandy bottoms, often in groups, and are popular sightings on recreational dives.
