The bull shark is a stout, grey carcharhinid that grows to around 4 metres and is notable for its ability to tolerate freshwater, occasionally entering rivers and estuaries far inland. Its stocky build, blunt snout, and small eyes distinguish it from other requiem sharks. Bull sharks are aggressive hunters and opportunistic feeders; they are classified as vulnerable by the IUCN, partly owing to their slow reproduction and presence in heavily fished coastal and riverine habitats.
