The yellowbar angelfish is a striking member of the pomacanthid family, recognisable by its bold vertical yellow bars against a dark body. Found in coral reef environments across the Indian Ocean and Red Sea, it inhabits deeper reef zones and drop-offs where it feeds on sponges and tunicates. Like other large angelfish, it is territorial and often seen singly or in pairs moving deliberately through crevices and along reef walls.
