The twinspot snapper is a robust member of the snapper family found across Indo-Pacific reefs. Named for a pair of dark spots near the tail base, this fish inhabits coral and rocky outcrops from shallow reefs to deeper drop-offs. Adults are solitary hunters, feeding on smaller fish and crustaceans, often active at dawn and dusk. They tolerate brackish and freshwater environments as well as full marine conditions, making them adaptable residents of diverse reef systems.
