The Painted Frogfish is a master of camouflage, often found among coral, rubble, and seagrass in shallow tropical waters. Its stocky, warty body comes in variable colours—yellows, browns, reds, and whites—allowing it to blend seamlessly into its surroundings. Like other frogfish, it uses a modified dorsal spine as a lure to attract small fish and crustaceans within striking range. Watch for its characteristic "walking" motion along the seafloor using its pectoral and pelvic fins.
