The giant trevally is a heavy-bodied jack with a dark greenish back and silvery sides, found in tropical and subtropical waters from the surface down to 80 metres. It hunts in open water and around reefs, often solitary or in small groups, displaying aggressive feeding behaviour that makes close encounters memorable. Adults typically reach 1–1.5 metres, though larger specimens are not uncommon.
