The Geometric Moray is a cryptic eel found in rocky crevices and coral heads across tropical and subtropical reefs. Its patterned body — marked with geometric lines and spots — blends effectively against reef structure, making it easy to miss until it emerges to feed. Like other morays, it hunts nocturnally, relying on a keen sense of smell to find prey in darkness, and can be distinguished from similar species by its characteristic markings and relatively slender build.
