The common bluestripe snapper is a striking reef fish named for the bright blue horizontal lines running along its silvery body. It inhabits coral and rocky reefs across the Indo-Pacific, typically in depths between 5 and 60 metres, and grows to around 30 cm. This snapper is highly gregarious, often seen in loose schools hunting small fish and crustaceans, particularly around dawn and dusk. Its combination of vibrant stripes and schooling behaviour makes it unmistakable in the field.
