Beaked Salmon

The Beaked Salmon is a small cyprinid with a distinctive downturned mouth—a feature that gives it both its common name and its hunting advantage in bottom feeding. Found in freshwater systems, it grazes on algae and small invertebrates along the substrate, where its elongated snout helps it probe for food in fine sediments. This modest fish rarely exceeds a few centimetres and is most active during low-light periods.
