The yellowtail snapper is a sleek, silvery fish with a distinctive yellow stripe running from snout to tail and a bright yellow caudal fin. Found on coral reefs and rocky outcrops throughout tropical Atlantic waters, they typically patrol reef edges between 5 and 40 metres depth. These snappers are swift hunters, often seen in loose aggregations that scatter and reform as they chase small fish and crustaceans. They respond well to chumming and are popular with both divers and anglers.
