Yarrell's Blenny

Yarrell's blenny is a small, elongated fish found in rocky crevices and kelp holdfasts across northern Atlantic waters, typically at depths of 5–30 metres. The species reaches around 15 centimetres and is recognisable by its slender body, small head, and mottled brown or olive colouration that helps it blend seamlessly into its rocky habitat. Divers observing these blennies will notice they are surprisingly sedentary, spending long periods in the same crevice, darting out briefly to feed on small crustaceans and algae before retreating to safety.
