White-Eyed Moray

The White-Eyed Moray is a cryptic reef dweller easily identified by the pale ring around its eye, which stands out against its darker head and body. It hunts nocturnally from crevices and rubble, feeding on small fish and crustaceans. Divers most often spot this moray at dusk or on night dives, when it becomes more active in shallow to mid-depth reefs. Like other morays, it relies on a keen sense of smell and lateral-line detection rather than vision to locate prey in low light.
