The threespot angelfish is a compact pomacanthid reaching about 26 cm, found in Indo-Pacific coral reef environments at moderate depths. It has a distinctive dark body with three cream or white spots—one on the gill cover, one on the side, and one near the tail—that make identification straightforward. This species tends to remain in deeper reef zones and among coral heads, where it feeds on sponges and tunicates; divers encounter it singly or in pairs rather than in groups.
