Spotted Sharpnose Puffer

The Spotted Sharpnose Puffer is a small, solitary reef fish with a distinctly pointed snout and a body covered in small dark spots. Found in Indo-Pacific coral and rocky reefs at depths between 5 and 40 metres, it feeds on small crustaceans and algae, often seen picking methodically at the reef. When threatened, it inflates its body to appear larger—a defence that works well against most predators but should be a sign to divers to observe from a distance and avoid handling.
