Spotted Cleaner Shrimp

The spotted cleaner shrimp is a small, translucent shrimp with distinctive white spots scattered across its body and a pair of long, whip-like antennae. Found in shallow coral reef environments throughout the Caribbean and western Atlantic, it lives commensally with larger fish and sea turtles, picking parasites and dead skin from their bodies and mouths. These shrimp are most active at night and often establish cleaning stations on reefs where fish return regularly for grooming.
