A small butterflyfish reaching about 13 cm, the Lemonpeel Butterflyfish inhabits coral reef environments across the Indo-Pacific, typically at depths between 5 and 40 metres. Its body is bright yellow with a distinctive dark spot ringed in orange near the tail, and a dark eyeband through the face. It feeds on coral polyps and small invertebrates, often seen in pairs or small groups moving deliberately through branching corals.
