Snakeskin Wrasse

The Snakeskin Wrasse is a small wrasse, reaching around 12 cm, named for the distinctive scaled patterning along its body. It inhabits coral and rocky reef environments across tropical Indo-Pacific waters, typically seen at moderate depths. Like other wrasses, it is an active, darting swimmer that hunts small invertebrates and crustaceans among reef crevices. Its cryptic coloration and modest size mean it can be easily overlooked, but patient observation of reef structure often reveals it foraging during daylight hours.
