Risso's Dolphin

Risso's dolphins are robust, stocky cetaceans found in deep waters beyond the continental shelf, typically at depths of 400–1,000 m but occasionally visible from the surface in temperate and tropical oceans. Adults develop a distinctive pale grey or whitish body, often heavily scarred from social interactions and encounters with squid—their primary prey. These dolphins travel in groups of 10 to 30 individuals and are known for their acrobatic breaching and socialising. They are deep divers, capable of reaching several hundred metres in pursuit of prey.
