The Reunion angelfish is a small pomacanthid found in the Indian Ocean, rarely exceeding 15 cm. Its compact body and bold patterning make it distinctive among deeper-dwelling angelfishes, typically encountered below 40 m on steep coral and rock faces. Like other members of the genus Apolemichthys, it feeds on sponges and tunicates, and tends to remain within a small home range rather than roaming widely.
