Picasso Triggerfish

The Picasso triggerfish is instantly recognisable by its bold, asymmetrical face markings—yellow and blue stripes that look almost painted on, combined with a distinctive white mouth stripe. Found on coral reefs across Indo-Pacific waters, typically between 5 and 40 metres, this fish uses a powerful jaw to crush hard-shelled invertebrates and coral. Divers often spot them solo or in pairs moving deliberately across the reef; they can be territorial and may charge if approached too closely.
