Pantropical Spotted Dolphin

Pantropical spotted dolphins are sleek, fast-moving cetaceans found in warm ocean waters worldwide. Adults develop distinctive dark spots as they age, earning the species its name. These dolphins are highly social, travelling in groups that can number in the hundreds, and they frequently hunt cooperatively for small fish and squid. Divers in tropical and subtropical regions may encounter them offshore, though they occasionally approach boats and bow-ride.
