Pacific Green Turtle

The Pacific green turtle is a large marine reptile found in tropical and subtropical waters of the eastern Pacific. Adults typically reach 80–100 cm in shell length and are named for the greenish colour of their fat, not their shells, which are often brown or olive. These turtles are primarily herbivorous as adults, grazing on seagrass and algae in shallow coastal waters, though juveniles feed on jellyfish and small invertebrates. Divers may encounter them resting on the sea floor or cruising through seagrass beds, where they are generally calm but will swim away if approached closely.
