NZ Crayfish

The NZ Crayfish is a large spiny lobster found in temperate waters around New Zealand and southern Australia, typically at depths between 5 and 40 metres. It's recognisable by its robust body covered in spines and long, thick antennae nearly as long as its body. These nocturnal foragers hide in rocky crevices and caves during the day, emerging at night to feed on small invertebrates and algae. They're a prized target for commercial and recreational fishing, and divers often encounter them sheltering in reef crevices and under ledges.
