Northern Sea Fan

The Northern Sea Fan is a delicate gorgonian coral with a branching, fan-like structure that sways gently in current-swept waters. Look for it on rocky reefs and walls, typically below 30 metres, where it extends perpendicular to the flow to filter-feed on plankton. Its pale coloration and intricate branching pattern make it a distinctive fixture of deeper reef habitats, though it's more often appreciated by technical divers than those exploring shallow waters.
