Morelet's Crocodile

Morelet's crocodile is a modest-sized crocodilian found in freshwater systems across Central America, from southern Mexico to Belize and Guatemala. It inhabits rivers, swamps, and cenotes, typically remaining in deeper pools during the dry season. The species is shy and nocturnal, rarely encountered by divers, though it poses little threat if left undisturbed. Unlike larger crocodilians, Morelet's crocodile feeds primarily on fish and small vertebrates rather than large prey.
