Mexican Tetra

The Mexican Tetra is a small freshwater fish found in caves and surface waters across Mexico and the southern United States. Surface-dwelling populations are silvery and streamlined, but the famous cave populations are blind and unpigmented — a striking adaptation to lightless environments. These fish school actively in both habitats and tolerate a wide range of water conditions, making them popular in aquarium keeping.
