Marblefish

The marblefish is a small, cryptic resident of rocky and kelp-dominated reefs across southern Australia and New Zealand. Its patterned body blends readily with algae and encrusting organisms, making it easy to overlook despite being relatively common in shallow to moderate depths. These fish are herbivorous grazers, feeding on fine algae and detritus. They are generally solitary and tend to stay close to shelter among rocks and kelp fronds.
