Marbled Ray

The marbled ray is a broad-bodied ray with a distinctly patterned disc, typically found in sandy and muddy habitats from the shallows to around 80 metres. It feeds by hunting small fish and crustaceans on the seafloor, using its venomous tail spine as defence. Divers encounter this species across Indo-Pacific reefs and coastal zones, where its marbled markings and flattened shape make it recognisable against the sand.
