Maori Octopus

The Maori octopus is a large, intelligent cephalopod found in southern waters around New Zealand and Australia. It inhabits rocky reefs and kelp forests, typically at depths where divers encounter it among crevices and boulder fields. Like other octopuses, it is a master of camouflage and can shift colour and texture rapidly to match its surroundings or signal alarm. Nocturnal hunters, they feed on crustaceans and small fish, using their eight arms with sensitive suckers to probe crevices and manipulate prey.
