Long-Tailed Stingray

Bathytoshia lata

Rank
Species

The long-tailed stingray is a deep-water batoid found on continental slopes, typically beyond 200 metres depth. It is a relatively obscure species, seldom encountered by recreational divers, and little is known about its behaviour in the field. The stingray derives its name from an elongated tail, though encounters remain rare even for deep-diving expeditions.
