The Linckia Sea Star is a striking five-armed starfish found on coral reefs across the Indo-Pacific, recognisable by its smooth, uniform body and bright colouration—typically blue, orange, or red depending on locality. It moves slowly across the reef during night hours, feeding on detritus and organic matter. A notable quirk: damaged or detached arms can regenerate over time, and occasionally a severed arm may develop into a new individual, a form of asexual reproduction unusual among starfish.
