Jewel Moray

The Jewel Moray is a striking eel found in rocky crevices and coral heads across the eastern Pacific. Its stocky body is covered in a pattern of pale spots and blotches against a darker background, giving it a jewelled appearance. Like other morays, it hunts small fish and crustaceans at night, remaining hidden in its lair during the day. Divers often spot the characteristic blunt head and open mouth as the moray perches at the entrance of its shelter.
