Horse-eye jacks are sleek, silvery predators found in tropical and subtropical waters, often seen patrolling reef edges and open water in small groups. They are named for their notably large eyes, which give them excellent vision in pursuit of small fish and crustaceans. These fast, aggressive hunters are common around deeper reefs and wrecks, where divers may encounter them cruising mid-water or herding prey against structure.
