Honeycomb Cowfish

The honeycomb cowfish is a small, boxy fish recognisable by its distinctive yellow or tan body covered in a dark-edged hexagonal pattern that resembles honeycomb. Two horn-like projections above the eyes give it a comical appearance. Found among coral heads and seagrass beds in tropical western Atlantic waters, it cruises slowly while foraging for small crustaceans and molluscs. Despite its armoured plating, it can release toxic compounds when stressed, making handling inadvisable.
