Guineafowl Puffer

The Guineafowl Puffer is a stocky, spotted fish found on coral reefs and rocky outcrops across the Indo-Pacific. Its rounded body is covered in small dark spots on a yellowish or olive background, resembling the plumage of a guineafowl. Like other puffers, it inflates when threatened, swallowing water to deter predators. It feeds on hard-shelled invertebrates—corals, sea urchins, and molluscs—with a strong bite that leaves distinctive toothmarks on reef surfaces.
