The goldentail moray is a small, cryptic eel found in rocky and coral reef crevices across tropical Atlantic waters. Typically less than 60 cm long, it sports a dark body with a distinctive golden or yellowish tail that gives the species its name. Like most morays, it hunts at night, emerging from shelter to feed on small fish and crustaceans, and can be approached carefully by divers who respect its space and avoid sudden movements.
