European Spiny Lobster

The European spiny lobster is a large crustacean that can reach up to 5 metres in length, distinguished by its long, whip-like antennae and overall reddish-brown carapace studded with spines. Found in rocky and reef habitats across the Mediterranean and eastern Atlantic, it typically hides in crevices during the day, emerging to forage on small invertebrates at night. The species is listed as vulnerable, and populations have declined due to overfishing and habitat loss.
