Denise's pygmy seahorse is one of the ocean's tiniest equines, a cryptic dweller of coral reefs in the Indo-Pacific. It clings to sea grass and soft corals, where its body colour—often pink, yellow, or orange—blends seamlessly with its surroundings. Like all seahorses, males are the brood-carers, incubating eggs in a pouch until the miniature young are ready to fend for themselves.
