Dahlia Anemone

The dahlia anemone is a stocky, colourful sea anemone found across northern temperate and cold waters, typically at depths between 5 and 40 metres. Its column is often marked with distinctive vertical stripes or bands of contrasting colours—red, orange, pink, or white—and its tentacles radiate outward in dense whorls, giving it a flower-like appearance. Like other anemones, it feeds on small fish and crustaceans that brush against its stinging tentacles, and it can slowly move across rocks or seabed by gliding on its pedal disc.
