The cubera snapper is a large, powerful predator of the snapper family, found in marine and brackish waters across tropical and subtropical regions. It grows to around 1.6 m and develops a robust, streamlined body with a steep forehead and powerful jaws — features that reflect its role as an apex hunter of reef and offshore environments. Cuberas hunt fish and crustaceans with considerable aggression and are prized by both recreational and commercial fishers, though they command respect for their size and strength.
