The Crimsonband Wrasse is a small, colourful wrasse growing to around 23 cm, found in southern Australian waters. Divers recognise it by its distinctive crimson or reddish bands running across the body, set against a paler base colour. Like other wrasses, it hunts small invertebrates on the reef, darting between rocks and rubble in shallow to moderate depths. It inhabits rocky reefs and kelp forests, where its bright patterning provides camouflage among the seaweed and reef structure.
