Common Grey Seal

Grey seals are large pinnipeds with robust bodies and distinctive long snouts. They inhabit rocky coasts and kelp forests across the North Atlantic, often hauling out on exposed reefs and rocky outcrops between dives. Underwater, they are graceful and curious, sometimes approaching divers with apparent interest. They hunt fish and squid at depths typically under 100 m, though capable of much deeper dives. Breeding occurs in winter on land, when males and females haul out in large colonies.
