Coconut Octopus

The coconut octopus is one of the ocean's cleverest invertebrates, famous for carrying and assembling coconut shells or other objects as portable shelters. Found in shallow tropical waters across the Indo-Pacific, this small octopus hunts at night, using its intelligence and tool use to protect itself from predators. Watch for it on sandy or rubble bottoms during night dives, where it may be observed retrieving or manipulating debris with remarkable purpose.
