Chain Moray

The chain moray is a slender eel with a distinctly patterned body marked by linked or chain-like markings along its length—a feature that gives the species its common name. Found in tropical and subtropical reef environments, it typically hides in crevices and rubble during the day, emerging at dawn and dusk to hunt small fish and crustaceans. Divers encountering this moray should keep a respectful distance; like all morays, it will defend itself if cornered, though it is not aggressive by nature.
