The Carpet Shark is a small, cryptic bottom-dweller found on sandy and muddy seabeds. Its flattened body and mottled brown patterning provide excellent camouflage against the seafloor, making it easy to overlook even in shallow water. These sharks are ambush predators, lying still until small fish or crustaceans pass within striking distance. Nocturnal and solitary, they are harmless to divers but rarely encountered unless specifically sought on night dives.
