The Caribbean Sharpnose Puffer is a small, alert fish found on coral reefs and rocky outcrops throughout the Caribbean and adjacent Atlantic waters. Its tapered snout and compact, slightly inflated body make it instantly recognisable as it hovers near shelter, feeding on small crustaceans and algae. Like other pufferfishes, it can rapidly inflate its body when threatened, though it rarely needs to—its quick, darting movements and tendency to stay close to cover usually suffice to escape predators.
