Bluestriped Grunt

The bluestriped grunt is a stocky fish of the grunt family, named for the bright blue lines that run along its head and body. It inhabits shallow coral and rocky reefs throughout the tropical western Atlantic, often found in loose aggregations during the day. These fish are notably vocal, producing characteristic grunting sounds—particularly at night when they forage for small crustaceans and fish in sandy areas near the reef.
