The bluefin trevally is a robust jack with a dark back and silvery flanks, often showing a distinctive black spot near the gill cover. These powerful predators cruise reef edges and open water from the surface down to around 80 metres, hunting smaller fish in loose groups or alone. Found across the Indo-Pacific, they are fast and aggressive hunters—worth watching from a distance for their sudden, explosive feeding runs.
