Bluechin Parrotfish

The bluechin parrotfish is a large, robust parrotfish found on coral and rocky reefs across the Indo-Pacific. Adults display a striking blue or greenish chin that gives the species its name, along with a steeply sloped head profile. Like other parrotfish, it grazes algae and organic matter from reef surfaces, producing clouds of sand as it feeds—a key ecological role in reef maintenance. Divers typically encounter them singly or in small groups during daylight hours, often in deeper reef zones.
